Marketing for the Earth MICA Class

This fall, we taught a course at Maryland Institute College of Art called Flex Studio. During this 4 week course we worked with 9 students. We gave them an initial idea and asked the students to run with it.

The project was based on Marketing For The Earth. MFTE is kicking off in June 2009 and we will be launching the program on January 1, 2010.

Here is what it is: The Earth is our most valuable resource and we take it for granted every day. As consumers, creatives, businesses and individuals, we have a responsibility to correcting the harm that we have brought to this world. With modern technology, clever messaging and strong visual statements, we have the ability to not only impact the people around us, but to ultimately create change.

Each day, companies assist many people, clients or customers with their time and/or products. With MARKETING FOR THE EARTH we ask these companies to look at the Earth as their primary client. We asked the students to think about the earth this way and to look at the resources that these companies could provide to the planet. Each student considered the primary elements that exist within the planet and awareness could be created around a special issue.
