Visuals can truly create change

Often times, Tilt discusses the fact that visuals have the only true opportunity to create change. As the world’s most global communication method, visuals represent the wave of the future. We are often surrounded by mixed-media with large advertisements, graphics and signage (wayfinding, mostly) providing us with direction on what we should be doing, how we should be doing something and offering us additional suggestions if we don’t want to listen to the first two options provided. Visuals provide a quicker reaction than the written word. Often times people can reference colors, shapes and emotions featured in a visual, so the meaning becomes stronger and longer lasting as a memory.
Seeing a photograph can evoke a different sort of message than any other kind of mixed-media. Dependent upon the subject matter, a photograph really resonates with a viewer. There is a wonderful article about telling stories and photographs posted on the Digital Photography School site. We are hoping through the subject of the environment and the beauty held within this incredible planet, patrons of the world begin taking notice and learning to communicate with action. We need to see change and our hopes is to find the progression leading from a visual into action.
My friend and our client, Arthur Gonoretzky from Central National (headquartered in Purchase, NY, and he is located in Sao Paulo, Brazil in their Branac division) is an avid photographer. His work is often based on expressions and in-depth facial expressions. Most recently he has spent time in Massachusetts and Connecticut, photographing his experiences. We are completely enamored with his work, and wish to share his incredible journey with you through his subjects. Below are just a few of his most recent photographs telling a visual story throughout his journey. Click here to see his entire Flickr library.
With someone like Arthur, we have the opportunity to see his incredible vision captured in a single photograph; the experience changing the way a viewpoint from a simple shadow to a deep and meaningful relationship between space and solitude. The opportunity to “see;” is endless and far reaching. What do you see? We would love to hear your thoughts.
